My favourite little fishy atm - my blue Siamese Fighter, Midnight
Info: [Betta splendens] Siamese Fighting Fish - These beautiful fish are a good beginner's fish, being hardy and good community fish - except for the males. Male Siamese Fighting fish are territorial against other Male Siamese Fighting fish. These comes from natural behaviour in the wild, where the water in which they lived would often drain away to tiny, seperated little pockets of water. Males would claim a territory, which would remain filled with water, and keep other males away from their pocket. In a large tank, you could keep two males, if they had enough females for both of them (beware : you can buy a female and then find out that it's a short-finned male), but it's best to keep it to one male Siamese per tank. Male's may also fight/fin-nip other fish that have long fins (and therefore look similar to a male Siamese Fight). Siamese Fighting fish grow to 6cm long and can live for 3+ years.
